1. Jurassic Park

When a design is successful, it doesn't need any words to tell you what it is. You could see the outline of that dinosaur anywhere and recognise it in an instant. The simplistic nature of this design is what sells it. A simple logo (that of the fictional park) and a strap-line - nothing more, nothing less.

2. Pulp Fiction

This movie poster mimics the style of old pulp novels from the 1950's and 1960's. Uma Thurman lies on a bed, smoking a cigarette and staring down the lens of the camera. Some may say that this poster is a little chaotic, but it gives you a real sense of the dramatic movie that follows it.

3. Raiders of the Lost Ark

Indiana Jones was a leading character for many years. Who hasn't enjoyed one of these movies? We think that the Raiders of the Lost Ark poster is one of the best examples of retro design. This comic book style poster is as masculine as they come. It has everything from a hero to a girl - what more could you want?

4. Fight Club

The simple black and white style of this poster is what makes it special. The style echoes that of film noir and has a sinister nature. Here, we see the main character standing between the light and dark.

7. Casablanca

The epitome of cool, the old Casablanca poster is one of the finest examples of chic design. The black and white picture depicts the cast in a stylish way. Here, the typography is what makes the poster one of the best of its time. The red text stands out and grabs the audience's attention.

8. Vertigo

The epic designer, Saul Bass, is the genius behind this poster. His illustrations are as remarkable as they are unmistakable. His movie posters were less about advertising and more about the art of cinema.

9. Rosemary's Baby

This satanic film was light years ahead of other movies of the time. Here, we see a simple cradle on top of a hill. Above that, there is the face of Rosemary. She is, of course, distraught at this point. Who wouldn't be after they'd spawned the devil's child?

10. A Clockwork Orange

This creepy nature of this poster is ideal for the film it portrays. Of course, there is nothing scarier than the look on the main character's face in this illustration.
